We all want to prevent acne to keep our face and skin clear. It obviously makes a lot more sense to prevent rather than cure the spots AFTER they break out. So just how do you prevent acne and guarantee that you have had your last ever acne breakout?
Well the first thing is there are no guarantees that you will get rid of your acne for ever regardless of what you do to prevent acne. No one is perfect and any attempt at 100% blemish free skin can only lead to frustration. There can barely be a person alive or dead that never woke up to find they had a spot or two on their face. Everyone has been there and it wasn’t the end of the world for us and neither will it be for you.
Having said that, you can greatly increase your chances of a blemish free face with a quality skincare regime because regardless of what the TV ads tell you it’s this which is the best way to prevent acne.
It’s very important that you are gentle when you clean your skin and that includes not using harsh products as well as not scrubbing to hard. Many make the mistake of thinking a good hard scrub is the best way to prevent acne but actually it will only make an outbreak worse. Your skin will be red from the scrubbing but also your skin will mostly likely over compensate for the loss of essential oils you have scrubbed off by producing even more.
To prevent acne you want a cleanser that is designed for sensitive skin so that you can be sure it is mild and also use a gentle toner. A gentle toner is also better than an astringent on oily skin. Astringents contain alcohol which will cause excessive drying of the skin.
A mistake many make is to apply acne products when they don’t currently have an outbreak in the hope it will prevent acne. The trouble is these products are designed to address the bacteria that form the acne so applying to a clear face is just a waste of money and won’t do your skin much good either. Never apply acne treatments on clear skin as it simply won’t prevent acne.
One of the best ways to prevent acne is to keep to a good diet and to keep fit. Your skin is your body’s largest organ and just like your other organs, it needs the correct nourishment provided by the food you eat. Exercise will also help increase your bloods circulation which in turn keeps your skin radiant and healthy.
