Here’s a question for you: Why have you given me a pill that should I wish to take, will prevent me from becoming pregnant yet you cannot come up with a cure for acne?
I agree that the acne is a far better contraception than the pill but really, the mind boggles! You can stop me getting pregnant by popping a pill, you can give me a jab that prevents me getting flu, you can even change my heart should this one start having problems but a cure for acne, I might as well ask for equal pay!
Ok perhaps I am being a little unfair. Dermatologists and doctors have made some great advances in understanding the causes and prevention of acne but they have yet to come up with the magic bullet cure for acne.
So while they search for the “magic bullet” what do we do in the meantime when we get an outbreak and need a cure for acne? Well, there are plenty of things that we can do to treat and address our condition to both heal up outbreaks and prevent new ones as well. While some of these things might include one or two products and treatment options, many of them involve just a few simple changes in your skincare routine to achieve clear acne free skin.
If you are already using one those miracle “Acne Gone In Just 3 Days” type cure for acne, go and read the instructions properly. Most of these type of topical agents are very harsh to your skin and over use can cause worse outbreaks than the one you were trying to clear! If you must use this type of cure for acne, only apply it once a day. The best time is at night before you go to bed and resist the urge to repeat the dose in the morning as this will make your skin dry.
Same thing goes for cleansers and medicated soaps. If you use them too much your body simply goes into overtime and creates more oils to compensate for your bodies loss of them. Treat a cure for acne as you would any medication or ointment and follow the instructions to the letter.
How much effect your diet has on your acne depends on which “expert” you talk to but common sense tells us that a fit and healthy body will look after itself. We have members who have cut out chocolate for instance and seen improvements in their skin. While this is hard to prove for obvious reasons a good healthy diet with less fried foods should be a part of any cure for acne.
In extreme cases a dermatologist can prescribe medications, both topical and oral as a cure for acne and these are usually in the form of a course of antibiotics which help clean up the trapped bacteria.
Prevention is the best cure for acne and the best way to prevent acne is careful and proper skincare. Use a mild cleanser at night before bed and then in the morning apply a good quality toner followed by moisturizer (again a good quality) and finally a mild application of topical treatment.
If you follow these steps every day, you will soon have acne free skin. You will find lots more info in our Cures For Acne members club.
